Skopje Fortress

The history of the fortress dates back to the sixth century, but the current building was built at the end of the fourteenth century. In the following centuries it was also rebuilt and expanded. In its glory days it was one of the most powerful fortresses in the Balkans. Currently, excavation and reconstruction works are underway.
