Old Bazaar

Local name: Стара чаршија

The former Turkish shopping district probably existed since the 12th century. It is made up of atmospheric, narrow streets and cobbled pavements. It is full of small shops, traditional restaurants and cafes. Mosques have survived, and the former Turkish bathhouse now houses the Art Gallery. The Old Bazaar is a mix of cultures, the real heart of Skopje.
