The museum is dedicated to the Macedonian struggle for sovereignty from the beginning of the resistance movement against the Ottoman rule until the declaration of independence from Yugoslavia in 1991. There are 13 permanent exhibitions. The most important exhibits include a copy of the Declaration of Independence signed in 1991.
