Amsterdam Museum
Local name: Amsterdam Museum
The facility mainly collects exhibits related to the history of the city. Tourists can see not only old documents, furniture and archaeological finds, but also artifacts from the house of Rasp, i.e. a place where prisoners forced to tear wood for sawdust. The facility is based in an old orphanage, built in 1580.
The museum has permanent exhibitions. The exhibition entitled "Little Orphanage" tells the story of orphans living in the building in the 17th century, and "Amsterdam DNA" about the city's history centered around values such as entrepreneurship, freedom of thought, citizenship and creativity. The facility also offers a special exhibition devoted to the history of the building itself told from the perspective of its subsequent residents, and an exhibition of a collection of paintings of seventeenth-century painters, Ferdynand Bol and Govert Flick.
