Verbania is a charming resort on Lake Maggiore, famous for its wonderful parks and gardens. The Landscape Museum was established here to honor these unusual garden arrangements.

The town is primarily of recreational importance and already in the 17th and 18th centuries it was visited by representatives of the aristocracy and the financial elite of Piedmont. They built their villas surrounded by gardens, which are today Verbania's most important attraction.

The largest and most famous garden in Verbania is the Villa Taranto Botanical Gardens. They were created in the interwar period on the basis of earlier park layouts surrounding holiday villas. Today, you can see over 20 thousand. plant species from around the world, grouped into thematic collections. The individual parts of the park differ in their character and buildings, creating extraordinary small, botanical worlds that dazzle at any time of the year.

The town is also a good base for active leisure. From here you can go on a trip on Lake Maggiore, rent water equipment, hike up Monte Rosa or go trekking to the Val Grande National Park.
