Saint Basilica Bernard by the Baths (Chiesa Rettoria San Bernardo alle Terme) is a historic temple, which was founded on the site of the former Baths of Diocletian. Its interior is decorated with eight statues of saints - the work of Camillo Mariani.
The rotunda with a diameter of over 20 meters is crowned by a characteristic octagonal dome. A chapel dedicated to St. It holds Franciszek's sculpture of the saint, by Giacomo Antonio Fancelli.
Diocletian's Baths were a huge public bath complex, covering an area of about 12 hectares. There were swimming pools, hot and cold bath rooms, internal gardens and a bar. Established in the 4th century, on the initiative of Emperor Maximian. One of the towers belonging to the complex was converted into a temple at the end of the 16th century.
