Basilica dei Santi Giovanni e Paolo al Celio in Rome (Basilica of St. John and Paul on the Celio Hill) holds the title of minor basilica. The most important monuments of the temple include the pipe organ of the Tamburini company and the canvas by Antoniazzo Romano depicting the Madonna with the Child, John the Evangelist, John the Baptist and Saint. John and Paul.
During the archeological excavations under the basilica, historic fragments of residential buildings from the Roman Empire were discovered. On one wall a fresco survived with the image of the ancient Roman goddess of sprouting grain - Proserpine.
The preserved rooms come from the period from the 1st to the 4th century. According to one theory, they played the role of a vivarium in which wild animals used for various entertainment organized at the Coliseum were stored.
