The monastery, within which the Tromanian Basilica of the Four Crowns is located. It is dedicated to the martyrs who were sentenced to death by Emperor Diocletian for refusing to pay tribute to the god Asklepios.
The first basilica was erected in this place as early as in the 4th century, but was rebuilt several times and its present shape was given in the 12th century. The altar apse decorated with the baroque fresco depicting the martyrdom of the Coronates was preserved from the older church in the 17th century.
