The city of Oia is considered one of the prettiest in all of Greece. Is the most famous postcard from Santorini. White houses climb up a steep slope and below the surface of the blue sea stretches.

Oia was built on the volcano caldera. Some of the buildings are hewn in rock, and the whole building creates picturesque terraces falling towards the sea. From them you can admire the small neighboring islets, Nea Kameni, Thirassia and Santa Claus.

The best viewpoint of the town is above the buildings. It is from here that photos are taken that adorn the covers of tourist guides and brochures about Greece. Above the snow-white buildings are the blue domes of churches, including the magnificent Church of Panagia Platsani.

The history of the village dates back to ancient times, but most of the local monuments come from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Among the oldest preserved ruins of the Byzantine Castle. The cobbled streets are narrow and climb through the white walls of the houses. Oia resisted a strong earthquake in 1956 that destroyed a large part of the buildings in Santorini. Thanks to this, it still impresses with its unique charm.
