Schieder-Schwalenberg is a small town created from the merger of several rural municipalities. It is characterized by scattered development and preserved half-timbered houses, and the surroundings are perfect for cycling or hiking.
The first records of the villages that today are part of Schieder-Schwalenberg come from the 12th century. They were owned by the monastery and developed as agricultural and craft settlements. Currently, half-timbered houses and small churches with gothic lumps have been preserved there. An interesting monument is the Castle Schieder, a small baroque residence surrounded by picturesque gardens. There is also a historic paper mill, Papiermuhle Ploger.
Among the attractions of Schieder-Schwalenberg is the funtastico amusement park on the lakeside. It provides family entertainment, mainly in the summer, when residents wanting to rest come to the lake. An interesting place for excursions is also the Nordufer viewing platform, from which you can admire the panorama of the area.
