Ravensburg is a historic town at the foot of the Alps. It is known primarily thanks to the Ravensburger factory that produces puzzles, blocks and other logic games for children and adults.
The city has medieval roots and has kept the urban layout of that era. Its most important monument are well-preserved fortifications with 10 towers and bastions and several city gates. For this reason, it gained the nickname of "the city of towers and gates".
The most iconic landmark in the center of Ravensburg is the Balserturm tower. At its top, there is a viewpoint from which you can see both the Old Town and its surroundings, as well as the peaks of the Alps, which are somewhat distant. Around the market square you can see historic tenement houses with nice facades. Many streets in the center are car-free and form pedestrian streets with cafes and small shops.
The symbol of Ravensburg is puzzles. It is the seat of the Ravensburger company, which produces puzzles, blocks and other logic toys. The Ravensburger Museum can see the rich collection of the company's products from its inception to the present day.
