Museum Berggruen is a museum of modern art, which is famous for its collection of over 100 works of works by Pablo Picasso - the most famous Spanish painter, sculptor and graphic artist. The Museum Berggruen permanent exhibition is entitled "Picasso and his times". The works of Paul Klee (70 paintings) and Henri Matisse (20 paintings and collages) are also represented in large numbers.
The museum's collections include great collectors' rarities, including the gouache of Picasso 'Nu Jaune', which is a study for the famous' Maidens of Avignon 'or the sculpture of Albert Giacometti' Standing Woman III '. In addition to the works of modernists, the Museum Berggruen collection also includes works by classics - Paul Cézanne and Giambattista Pittoni.
The museum is also called the Berggruen collection after the German art dealer Heinz Berggruen. He sold the National Gallery (the museum is part of it), a private collection of works of art collected for decades for a sum several times less than its market value, estimated at EUR 750 million at the time.
