Baiersbronn is a tourist destination in the Black Forest. It is situated among the mountains, in the vicinity of many hiking trails, making it a good starting point for exploring the area.
In its present shape, the town was established only in the second half of the 20th century, when a dozen or so small villages and settlements, which had previously functioned independently, were combined into one center. Baiersbronn is picturesquely scattered on the slopes of the hills and the valley, and a large part of the local architecture has a traditional character.
The main attractions of Baiersbronn are centered around the local landscapes and hiking trails. A very popular excursion destination is the Ellbachseeblick observation deck, which has the form of a 33-meter-long pier protruding above a steep mountain slope. There is a beautiful view of the surrounding forested mountains from here.
Tourists often go to the local mountain lakes, Buhlbachsee, Sankenbachsee and Wilder See. The Sankenbach waterfall is also a charming place, as it freezes over in winter, creating spectacular icefalls.
Baiersbronn is also popular in winter. There is a small ski resort with several kilometers of fairly easy slopes, perfect for a family holiday. There is also a ski jump in the village where the Continental Cup competitions are held.
