Sanary-sur-Mer is a coastal town on the Cote d'Azur. Fishing traditions are still cultivated here, and the local port is full of wooden, colorful fishing boats. The beaches around are small, hidden in coves and provide a break away from the crowds.

The long history of Sanary-sur-Mer is reflected in its monuments, which you can get to know while exploring the town. In the oldest part there is a medieval watchtower, stone houses from different eras and the 19th century church of St. Nazar. The chapel of Our Lady from around 1500 is beautifully situated, in front of which you can admire the view of the entire Sanary Bay.

The big attraction of Sanary-sur-Mer is the port here. It consists of a traditional fishing area and a tourist marina. Fishermen sell caught fish and seafood at the market every day. You can also buy fruit, vegetables, cheese and bread.

As a seaside resort, Sanary-sur-Mer developed quite late, only at the end of the 20th century. For this reason, it is not as bustling and commercial as it is in the most important coastal towns. The beaches are small, separated from each other, but very nice. Portissol is considered the most attractive.
