Struer is a port city on the Limfjord. It has relatively new buildings, and the area is suitable for water sports and active tourism.
Even at the beginning of the 19th century, Struer was a settlement with only a few dozen inhabitants. This situation changed when the spit separating the Limfjord from the high seas was broken. This made it possible to open a waterway and build a port. Today, the city has the character of a local commercial center. It is also the seat of the only Danish manufacturer of radio and television sets.
The buildings in the city come mainly from the 20th century, and in the center you can also see buildings from the 19th century. The small, picturesque manor house houses the Struer Museum with a collection devoted to local history and the surrounding nature. The city also has the Museum of the Middle Railway and West Jutland.
Struer attractions are mostly related to the sea. There is the Struer Harbor here, adapted both for small cargo ships, fishing boats, as well as yachts and sailing boats. In summer, you can enjoy the beaches of Bremdal and Ostre. The area is also great for walking and cycling, overlooking the Limfjord. Their popular destination is the headland where the Grisetåodde Lighthouse stands.
