The lighthouse was built in the second half of the 19th century. It was put into operation for the first time in December 1877. It consists of a cylindrical tower measuring 26 meters in height and smaller buildings adjoining it. The entire complex is painted in a characteristic red color. The lamp light is at an altitude of 62 m and reaches a distance of nearly 30 km.
There is a viewing balcony at the top of the lighthouse. There are 93 steps leading to it. From there you can enjoy a picturesque, panoramic view of the coast and the surrounding area, consisting of an unspoiled Ice Age landscape and green meadows.
Next to the lighthouse, there is a stone commemorating the visits of King Frederick VI, who came here in 1826 and 1830. In quite close proximity, there is also a stone commemorating the politician of Christen Berg, set in 1902.
