Store Heddinge is a historic town in Zealand. In its vicinity are the famous Stevns chalk cliffs. A lot of historic buildings have been preserved here, including a medieval church.

The beginnings of the town date back to the 13th century. The Romanesque church of St. Catherine. In later centuries, it was rebuilt several times, but it has retained its original shape. In the center, you can also see many historic residential houses, including half-timbered buildings.

Many attractions can also be found around Store Heddinge. The most important of these are the Stevns Klint chalk cliffs. They are 6 km long and reach 40 m in height at the highest point. There are hiking trails on the cliff tops. There is also the Cold War Museum located in Fort Stevns. The historic Old Church of Højerup, built around 1200, also stands on the cliff.

Gjorslev Castle is also close to Store Heddinge. It is a residence built in the Middle Ages for the bishops of Roskilde. Currently, after the reconstruction, the main building has baroque features. The castle is in private hands and you can only visit its extensive park.
