Kings Gardens
Local name: Kongens Have
The gardens were established in the Renaissance style at the beginning of the 17th century, which makes them the oldest royal gardens in the country. Currently, they are dominated by two linden avenues that intersect in the middle of the park. There is also a rose garden, a symmetrical renaissance garden and a modern playground for children.
There are several historic buildings and numerous works of art in the park. The former include the former barracks located in the pavilion from the beginning of the 18th century, the Commandant's House from 1760-1763 and the Hercules Pavilion. There is a statue of Hercules next to it, from which the building takes its name. You can also see carved fountains and a series of 17 marble spheres surrounding one of the lawns.
Temporary art exhibitions and various cultural events, including concerts, are regularly held in the park. In summer, a puppet theater for children is organized there.
