Skælskør is a small town in Zealand known to be home to the largest Danish brewery, Harboe. It has a ferry connection to the neighboring island of Agersø with nice beaches.
The town has a history that goes back to the Middle Ages. its main monument is the church of St. Nicholas. It owes its present appearance to numerous reconstructions. on the outskirts of the village there is a gothic-renaissance mansion surrounded by a park, Borreby Castle. It is in private hands, but the park is open to visitors and the interiors can be visited by appointment.
A big attraction of Skælskør is the possibility to sail to the nearby island of Agersø. Its idyllic, idyllic landscapes are perfect for hiking and biking tours, and its beaches are perfect for relaxing by the water in summer. The main sights of the island include the Agersø lighthouse, the Agersø mill and the Agersø battery, a remnant of fortifications from the Second World War.
