Hvidovre is a city in the suburbs of Copenhagen where the Zentropa film studios are located. It is a city with modern buildings, primarily housing facilities for people working in the nearby capital.
Even at the beginning of the 20th century, Hvidovre was a small village whose inhabitants were primarily farmers. Only the period after World War II and the rapid development of Copenhagen meant that housing estates began to emerge here. Today, low single-family buildings with a regular plan dominate here.
The city has a lot of green and recreational areas, which is why it is considered a good place to live. There are bicycle and hiking paths as well as picnic areas in the parks. A lot of greenery can also be found on the bank of the river flowing through Hvidovre.
Hvidovre's attractions include the Circus Museum, which shows the history of the art in Denmark and Europe, and the Suburban Museum. There is also an educational Quark Center.
