The museum is located in a picturesque old park with a panoramic view of the Øresund Strait. It is devoted to modern and contemporary art, from the 1940s to the present day. In addition to the permanent exhibitions, 6 to 10 special exhibitions are held here every year. Lectures, concerts and workshops are also organized here.
The museum's collection includes over 4,000 works of art, mainly paintings and sculptures. They are exhibited periodically. They include works by Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, Anselm Kiefer, Pablo Picasso and Yves Klein
On the seafront, between the museum's two wings, there is a sculpture garden. About 60 works by artists such as Henry Moore, Alexander Calder and Jean Arp were placed there. The sculptures are arranged in such a way that they blend in with each other and with the surrounding lawns and trees.
