HOLSTEBRO tourist attractions

Holstebro is known as one of Denmark's most thriving cultural centers. Although it is not a big city, numerous festivals take place here. There is an experimental Odin Teatret as well as a company and a ballet school.

The city has medieval roots, but lacks major monuments. This is due to a series of fires that ravaged its buildings between the 16th and 18th centuries. The custom of ringing the bells at 10 p.m. has survived to this day, which was supposed to remind residents of the necessity to put out the fire at night.

The oldest house in Holstebro is the city gate from the end of the 18th century. In the past, it was used to charge a duty to enter the city, and now it houses the Small Art Museum. The Holstebro Museum and the Holstebro Art Museum also have large collections.

Although the city's buildings are mainly contemporary, you can find many interesting accents in it. The attraction of Holstebro are several dozen contemporary sculptures located in different parts of the city. They refer to its history, residents' problems or important social issues.

The Holstebro area is good for walking and cycling tours. There are, among others Tvis Mølle Nature Laboratory with numerous nature paths. In turn, in the city you can take advantage of the offer of the swimming pool and the small water park Holstebro Badeland.
