Riefensberg is a village situated at the foot of the Nagelfluhkette mountain range, almost 2,000 meters above sea level. It is a place for a quiet holiday close to nature and hiking.
The town is located on the border with German Bavaria and lies within the border area of the Nagelfluhkette Nature Park. There are hiking trails leading to the area of exposed, scenic ridges and to the higher parts of the valleys. The whole area has an idyllic landscape, reminiscent of postcards from alpine meadows.
In Riefensberg, you can visit the Church of St. Leonard and the late Baroque chapel of St. Anna. Local traditions are deeply rooted in the village. Riefensberg's big attractions include the local Bregenzerwälder regional costumes, which are made by local craftsmen. They cannot be bought in stores, but only made to measure. Many local women wear traditional clothes during holidays or family celebrations, or even on Sundays, and can be seen in the streets of the village.
