Yelverton is a large village on the edge of Dartmoor National Park. It is a center of active tourism, and in its vicinity there are many scenic spots, such as a dam lake, rock outcrops and moors.
The small Yelverton is known as the perfect base for exploring the Dartmoor area. There are guesthouses, restaurants and bars, and many local handicraft shops. The surroundings are made for hiking through the moorland hills. In the immediate vicinity of the village there are spectacular Roborough Rock outcrops, which are a frequent destination for walks.
Yelverton's attractions are primarily related to its location among the moors and hills. Numerous hiking trails and beautiful viewpoints await tourists here. These include the dam Burrator Lake and the Burrator Dam. Many paths also lead into Bellever Woods. A place of great charm is the ruins of the medieval Buckland Monastery.
