Tintagel Castle

Tintagel Castle is a medieval fortification located on the island of Tintagel in North Cornwall. The property belongs to the Duchy of Cornwall and is managed by English Heritage, an organization that looks after monuments. The place has been popular for tourists since the 19th century.

Interestingly, the castle has numerous connections with the legends of King Arthur, which makes it an attractive tourist place. This connection dates back to the 12th century, when Geoffrey of Monmouth, a Welsh priest and chronicler, described Tintagel as the place where Arthur was conceived. He included this story in a fictionalized description of British history: "The History of Regum Britanniae."

The creation of the object dates back to the 13th century. It was built of stone and debris on the orders of Richard from Cornwall. However, the area was inhabited earlier, probably from the early Middle Ages. Today, we can only admire the ruins of Tintagel Castle, discovered by archaeologists during excavations in the 1930s.
