Eden Project
The Eden Project is a botanical garden founded on the site of a former kaolin excavation. About 18 thousand plants from several climate zones grow here. The complex has the form of adjacent domes in which various biomes are located. The two largest ones simulate the rainforest and Mediterranean areas. In the external biomet you can find plants from the British Isles. Local wild animals also live here. Artistic exhibitions and concerts are also organized in the garden.
The Eden project deals with environmental education that focuses on the interdependence of plants and people and the medical use of plants. Water necessary to maintain vegetation and service the facility is obtained from cleaned rainwater. In turn, energy comes from a wind turbine.
The excavation in which the garden is located has been used for over 160 years. In 1981, they were used in the television series "Hitch-hiking through the galaxy", where it played the role of the planet Magrathea.
