Mary Rose Museum
Mary Rose Museum is a historical museum located in Historic Dockyards in Portsmouth. It is devoted to the 16th-century warship Mary Rose and the Tudor era when the ship was in use. At exhibitions you can see artifacts related to the ship and its then crew, and even the restored Mary Rose. It is the only warship in the world from the 16th century that can currently be visited.
According to mistakenly transmitted stories, the belief that Mary Rose sank on a maiden voyage has become established. In fact, for 34 years she was an active warship and took part in the wars against France, Scotland and Brittany. She sank in 1545 during an attack on the gallery of the French Invasive Fleet in the Strait north of the Isle of Wight.
The Mary Rose Museum was first opened in 1984 and operated until 2009. After complete reconstruction, they were restarted four years later. The work was hampered by the fact that the museum was built over a ship standing in a dry, historic dock.
