Plymouth is one of the largest English ports and an important economic center on the Devon coast. It has a large saltwater aquarium and zoo, and the city is also the base for exploring the Dartmoor region.

In the past, Plymouth played a leading role among English ports. The navy was stationed here, and it was from this port that the English ships set off for the war with the Great Armada. Even today, the port here is one of the most important on the British coast. The maritime traditions of the city are commemorated by more than 20 monuments and plaques dedicated to seafarers fighting in numerous conflicts at sea from the Middle Ages to the present day.

Although Plymouth was bombed by the Germans during World War II, it quickly rose from its ruins and still offers tourists many interesting places. These include the citadel, which was built to protect the local port in the mid-17th century, and the Crownhill Fort located on the outskirts of the city.

Historic Plymouth Devonport has turned into a hub for entertainment in the early 2000s and a trendy place to hang out. The action of revitalizing the district and its activation contributed to this. The port area known as the Barbican is also very popular, with a paved promenade and many historic stone houses where pubs and bars operate today.

The Dartmoor Zoo is a major attraction in Plymouth, and is home to temperate animals. There is also the National Marine Aquarium presenting fish and other marine animals belonging to over 400 species and inhabiting the waters of seas and oceans around the world.
