Vestry House Museum
Vestry House Museum is a local institution dealing with the protection and dissemination of the history of the Waltham Forest district. It is located in a building from 1730, which previously housed, among others police station. Currently, inside the museum, the detention cell has been reconstructed, a Victorian living room, party games from the 19th and 20th centuries are presented, as well as a collection of period costumes.
An interesting exhibit for motoring fans of the Vestry House Museum is the first gasoline car constructed in Great Britain - a car named Bremer from 1892, named after the designer Frederick Bremer. He reached a speed of 4 miles / h because he had to be preceded by a walker with a red flag, warning passers-by about the approaching of a dangerous vehicle.
The collection also includes tens of thousands of archival and contemporary photographs documenting the history of the district, a tea service from 1820, and a collection of 19th-century toilet, dressing and kitchen items.
