Tower Millennium Pier
Tower Pier is one of the five harbors on the Thames opened in 2000 in preparation to celebrate the beginning of the third millennium. Tower Pier is a convenient interchange station for those wishing to explore two of London's most famous buildings - the Tower of London and Tower Bridge. You can also go from here by waterway to Westminster or - in the opposite direction - to the astronomical observatory in Greenwich.
Getting off at Tower Pier, it's worth going on a tour of the City of London - the financial district, whose main attraction are skyscrapers. The highest of them is The Shard erected in 2012 - an office building with 72 floors and almost 310 m in height. Whereas one of the most interesting buildings in terms of shape is 30 St Mary Ax, commonly known as Gherkin (pickled cucumber).
An interesting sightseeing destination, located a short distance from Tower Pier, are the docks of St. Catherine. In the past they had commercial functions, now they are a recreational and residential complex, a haven for private boats and yachts. This is one of the most exclusive and most expensive places to live in London.
