Clissold Park

Clissold Park is almost 23 hectares of green space in London's Hackney district. The park has sports fields, a bowling alley, tennis courts and playgrounds for children. Attractions prepared for active recreation of children are considered one of the best in all parks of London. In Clissold Park you can find slow-moving deer, squirrels, rabbits and many species of birds.

The Clissold House (formerly called Paradise House), which was built in the second half of the year, is worth visiting. Eighteenth century, commissioned by Jonathan Hoare - a merchant, philanthropist and activist for the abolition of slavery. A park was established around the building, which was supposed to be an idyllic place, giving peace and respite. Currently, Clissold Home serves as a restaurant and a place to organize various types of cultural events.

August Clissold became the next owner of the Paradise House and the park. After his death in 1887, the park and its premises were bought by the Metropolitan Board of Works and made available in 1887 as a public park. The originators of this project were John Runtz and Joseph Beck, in whose honor the park lakes were named Beckmere and Runtzmere. In the years 2010-2012 the park and its buildings underwent a general renovation, which restored their original appearance.
