Hackney City Farm

Hackney City Farm is a city farm located almost in the center of London. Both larger animals are bred here, including donkeys, goats, sheep and pigs as well as smaller ones, e.g. rabbits, guinea pigs and poultry. There is also an apiary here. Products such as eggs, honey and vegetables can be bought at your local store. Workshops and projects for children, teenagers and adults are organized on the farm.

The farm was founded in 1984, and its main purpose was to enable London children and teenagers to come into contact with life on the farm and animals. According to the founders, they were inspired by the success of the Kent urban farm. The place where Hackney City Farm is currently located was at the beginning of the 19th century an agricultural base of London. There were farms and orchards here that provided the city with fresh produce. A brewery operated here until the 1930s, and the well, which was then used in the production of beer, is still in the garden, but it is no longer used.
