V&A Museum of Childhood

The V&A Museum of Childhood is a branch of the Victoria and Albert Museum dedicated to design and applied art. The Museum of Childhood collection focuses on objects intended for children and for their care. Among them are toys, clothing and everyday items, the oldest of which come from the early seventeenth century. The exhibitions allow you to see what the child's life looked like centuries ago and how it has changed to modern times.

The museum was founded in 1872. Initially, it functioned as the Bethnal Green Museum. The outside of the building in which it is located was designed by James William Wild. The red brick building represents the so-called arcade style, which refers to the Romanesque, early Christian, Byzantine and Italian Renaissance traditions.

In addition to exhibitions at the museum, you can also see the iron statue of "The Eagle slayer," by John Bell. Originally it was exhibited during the Great Exhibition of 1851.
