The museum was established in 1977, and its collection consists of over 7,000 works. The gallery has antique works of art, sculptures, fabrics and ornaments from "primitive" civilizations around the world. His goal is to preserve the collection, started by Josef Müller in 1907 and continued by his daughter Monique and son-in-law Jean Paul Barbie-Mueller.
