Valldemossa is one of the most beautiful cities in Majorca. The historic city with stone houses, narrow streets and beautiful gardens is also known for its relationship with Fryderyk Chopin.

In the 14th century, King Sancho I built his palace in Valdemossa. After his childless death, it was handed over to the Carthusian order, who expanded the entire establishment. Today it is the most important monument in the city. In the complex, you can visit King Sanch's Palace with a historic Old Pharmacy, the Cartoix Museum in Valldemossa, where works of sacred art, monastery equipment and a large library are collected. The monastery also houses the Valldemossa City Museum and the Cartuja Church. You can stroll between the monastery buildings in the charming Rei Joan Carles Gardens.

In the winter of 1838-1839, Fryderyk Chopin and George Sand stayed in Majorca. Initially, they lived in Palma de Mallorca, then moved to the Carthusian monastery in Valldemossa. Today, the Fryderyk Chopin and George Sand Museum is located in two monastery cells, and the Chopin Festival has been held in the city since 1930.
