Platform 0 - Chamberí Station

Local name: Andén 0 - Chamberí Station

Andén 0 - Chamberí is a historic metro station transformed into a museum in 2008. Today there is a museum where you can see historic engines and visit the restored station from the 1920s.

The museum consists of two parts. In the first of them there are three railway diesel engines, which not only propelled trains, but also supplied the city with energy during the Spanish Civil War. The second part of the museum is the Chamberí platform. It was entirely tiled, the walls have mosaic advertisements and metro maps, and the antique cash registers have been restored.

The station was designed by the famous architect Antonio Palacios in 1919, closed for public use in 1962. The first metro line in Madrid led from Cuarto Caminos to Puerta del Sol, the distance between them was 4 kilometers.
