The Museum of Catalan Modernism is located in the Eixample district, on the site of a former factory and residence of one of Barcelona's industrialists. Collected here are items used in the houses of the bourgeoisie at the turn of the century, made in the Art Nouveau style. There are furniture, glass and ceramics, lamps, stained glass windows and trinkets. A collection of sculptures from this period was placed in the basements.
The museum was founded in 2011. His goal is primarily to show the life of the Barcelona middle class at the turn of the century. Everyday items are the main part of the exhibition. Some of the exhibited collections are the works of the greatest representatives of the Art Nouveau. There is, among others, furniture designed by Antonio Gaudi especially for Casa Mila or Casa Batllo. The Museum building itself has an Art Nouveau design. Stained glass windows in the windows, staircases have beautiful, bent railings and handrails.
The lowest floor is dedicated to the Catalan Art Nouveau sculpture. Here are the works of such artists as Josep Llimona or Eusebi Anrnau. The second of them was involved in the construction of St. Paul's Hospital.
