Església de Sant Jaume is a parish church in Barcelona, the only surviving part of the Trinitarian monastery from the fourteenth century. One of the most valuable sacred souvenirs that the temple can boast of is the gilded Gothic altar from the Barcelona Cathedral.
The interior of the temple is decorated with a painting of the Virgin from the fourteenth century, initially it was in the chapel at Portal Nou, it came to Sant Jaume in 1911. You can also admire here two paintings from the first half of the sixteenth century, depicting scenes from the Nativity and Epiphany.
Església de Sant Jaume was built on the Latin cross plan. In the years 1866-1880 the church underwent a thorough renovation, the work was managed by Josep Oriol Mestres. It was at this time that the presbytery was expanded, decorations in the neo-Gothic style appeared.
