Koper is the largest city on the Slovenian coast and its main port. With ancient roots, the city boasts historic buildings from the Venetian era and nice beaches.

The city was founded as a Greek colony, and in its history belonged, among others to Rome, Byzantium, the Republic of Venice and Italy. Italian influence is still strong here, and the official language next to Slovene is Italian. It is also one of the main wine-producing centers in Slovenia.

Despite the port character and the modern business center built at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries, the oldest part of Kopr has retained its former character. Its buildings are modeled on Venetian, and narrow streets fill tenement houses with decorated facades.

Until the 19th century, the area of the Old Town lay on an island, but due to the convenience of residents and better communication, it was decided to build a dike. Vrata Muda's Renaissance city gate leads to the city, and within the former buildings you can see the Gothic-Renaissance Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, the city's loggia or Renaissance palaces.

On the other side of the Kopers Bay stretch recreational areas with beaches, places for ball games, walking paths and water equipment rentals.
