The picturesque park was established at the end of the 19th century. There are over 9,000 rose bushes and 450 trees in it. Rose beds are grouped according to the varieties and colors of flowers, and are separated from each other by boxwood hedges. 12 pergolas were also built here and 70 lanterns were erected to illuminate the alleys in the evenings.
The park was established on the occasion of the Universal Exhibition, for which there were prepared flower arrangements by Wilhelm Mühle, Franz Niemetz and Beno Agatsa. The park was then visited by Emperor Franz Joseph, and Timişoara was called the "City of Roses". In the interwar period, the park was rebuilt in the English style. Picturesque roofing and an open-air theater stage were erected then.
Currently, every year the park hosts: the international folk festival, Festival of Hearts, Festival of Folklore of Ethnic Minorities, Festival of Opera and Operetta and gastronomic events. "
