The botanical garden was founded in 1992 as part of the museum's natural science complex. Over 260,000 specimens of trees, shrubs and flowers grow there. The garden is divided into 6 parts, including ornamental plants, crops, rose garden and greenhouses. Extensive sections present Romanian vegetation as well as species from all over the world.
The extensive Sensory Garden, established in 2014, is worth noting. There are 5 vertical gardens, 5 wells with aromatic and useful plants and an alley with medicinal plants. You can walk barefoot on the alley - its surface has a variety of textures, consisting of gravel, cones, brick, sand, tree bark and river stones. There are also 10 sun loungers where you can relax.
Themed flower exhibitions are organized in the garden. They change with the seasons, for example, in the fall, the exhibition "The Queen of Autumn - Crysanthemum" is presented, devoted to chrysanthemums.
