The Church of Our Lady of Good Health is a small, late Baroque temple located in the Alfama district of Lisbon. The building has one nave, with a classicizing portal surrounding the entrance. Inside you can see rococo decorations and several panels with azulejos tiles.
The church was built at the beginning of the 16th century, and received the call of Our Lady of Good Health after a great epidemic that hit the city in the middle of the century. During the earthquake in 1755, the temple was almost completely destroyed. It was rebuilt using preserved elements, such as a portal from the early 18th century or surviving panels made of azulejos.
The church has a very simple construction. It consists of one nave and a tiny presbytery. There is an image of the Mother of God in it. Each year, one of the largest Lisbon processions in honor of the Mother of Good Health begins from the temple.
