Town Hall in Ząbkowice Śląskie
Local name: Ratusz w Ząbkowicach Śląskich
The Neo-Gothic Town Hall in Ząbkowice Śląskie is an impressive building standing on the Market Square. Its dominant feature is the 73 meter long, slender tower topped with a pointed spire. The coherent and harmonious body is decorated with neo-Gothic decorations, sculptures, traceries and pinnacles. In the Wedding Hall hangs a painting of Michał Willmann "Stripped of garments".
Ząbkowice Śląskie had the Town Hall in the 14th century. It was rebuilt many times and in the nineteenth century it was destroyed by fire. Only the tower has survived. It was incorporated into a new building, which was built in 1862-1864. It received a neo-Gothic character, perfectly composed with an old, high tower.
Currently, the City Hall building houses a library and a Registry Office. In 1993, in one of the unused cells of the Town Hall, a painting of Michał Willmann, "Stripped of garments" was found lost since the war. Willmann worked primarily for the monastery in Krzeszów, and his work is considered the peak achievement of Silesian Baroque. After renovation, the painting was placed in the Wedding Hall.
