Bierut’s Saloon Carriage is an embodiment of luxury from the times of World War II. This elegant carriage was produced in the Poznań's workshop and today can be admired in the Station Museum in Warsaw. The stylish carriage of Ashx01 series is still in very good condition and equipped with the original monumental furniture.
In the beginning, Bierut’s Saloon Carriage was to serve German dignitaries. It wasn't, however, adjusted for the new owners on time. Finally, the carriage and also the entire workshop passed to Polish people. The carriage was used by Polish State Railways already in 1946. Because of its unique look, it was only intended for the most important personas in then Poland - its most known passengers were Bolesław Bierut, Władysław Gomułka, and Józef Cyrankiewicz. The interior of Bierut’s Saloon is opened to the public from time to time. During this occasion, visitors can see with their own eyes the original equipment such as the impressive mahogany furniture and richly decorated mirrors. The lucky ones can explore the carriage and all of its compartments.Less
