"The Royal Castle - from Destruction to Reconstruction" exhibition
Local name: Wystawa "Zniszczenie i odbudowa Zamku Królewskiego"
"Destruction and reconstruction of the Royal Castle" is a permanent exhibition presented for several years in the cellars of the castle, documenting the history of the monument during World War II and several decades after its completion. On the surface of about 350 m2 a multimedia exhibition has been created, showing the level of destruction and hard work of the object.
The exhibition is being presented in a new form in 2016, and the entrance to the tour is a short, 7-minute film screened on a specially designed, large screen. The production depicts the history of the reconstruction of the monument after World War II. The exhibits are presented in three chambers of the cellar, and their purpose is not only to show the castle's glory in its time of existence, but also the facts of its demolition during the ghetto uprising, and the circumstances of the decision to rebuild and its implementation.
The exhibition has been operating since 2012, but has recently been transformed, and the introduction of multimedia elements was aimed at a better understanding of content by young people and foreigners. The exposure climate highlights the authentic scenery of historic castle basements.
