Kubicki Arcades

Local name: Arkady Kubickiego

Located inside: Royal Castle in Warsaw

Kubicki Arcades are a red brick building with massive openwork arches and spacious hall behind them. Numerous cultural, entertainment, and trade events are organized here.

They were designed by Jakub Kubicki, author of castle's gardens situated on the scarp and architect of the Polish king - Stanislaus August Poniatowski. The purpose of the construction was to provide a passage between the upper and bottom gardens in form of a tunnel with the street. It connected Mariensztat with Nowe Miasto. An exceptionally interesting fact is that it survived the complete destruction of the Royal Castle during World War II.

In 1995, the renovation was carried out and the scarp was reinforced with steel concrete supports in order to prevent a landslide. The interior was covered with glass what made it a perfect space for events. It is one of the most important cultural destinations in the city.
