The Officer Cadets School in Łazienki Park is located by Łazienki Pond, in the south-east part of the complex. Its occupied by Ignacy Jan Paderewski Museum of Polish Emigration with the memorial room dedicated to the composer. Visitors can also listen to the concert or take a look at the thematic exhibition. 3rd May's Mazurek is played here every day.
The building of the school comes from the 17th century. It has undergone a thorough rebuilt in 1778-1788 which changed its style and added new elements. In the beginning, the object was used as a kitchen for Łazienki Park, and later as a residential annex. It was taken over by the Officer Cadet School in 1822. The educational facility is important for the history of Poland - it was here where the November Uprising was initiated. Because of that, the school was also chosen as a headquarters for Museum of Polish Emigration. The plaque commemorating Wysocki can be found on the building's wall. The Room of Ignacy Jan Paderewski's Souvenirs, located in the school, presents the exposition of documents, items, and also the original baby grand piano from 1867 which was played by the composer in Hotel Bristol. The busts of Piotr Wysocki and Ignacy Jan Paderewski can be admired next to the school.Less
