The Jan Kiliński monument measures 7 meters high. It consists of two parts: a 4-meter bronze statue and a 3-meter granite pedestal. It depicts Jan Kiliński, a colonel of the Kościuszko Uprising and a hero of Warsaw, who stormed with a high saber.
The monument was created in 1935 according to the design of Stanisław Jackowski. Initially, there was a bas-relief on the plaque on the front of the pedestal, which depicted Kilinski leading the insurgents to Castle Square. However, it was destroyed during World War II and was not rebuilt. The statue itself, as one of the few in the capital, survived the war without much damage. Originally, the monument was located on Krasiński Square, and after several relocations it was finally placed on the defensive walls of Podwale.
