First E. Wedel Chocolate Lounge

First Chocolate Lounge is located in antique tenement built in 1893 by Emil Wedel. It is the most popular chocolate bar in Warsaw. Tourists and residents are attracted not only by chocolate, but also by beautiful interiors furnished with tasteful antiques, stucco, crystal mirrors, old furniture, engravings and photos. There is also an old-fashioned company store in the building.

At the back of the tenement Emil Wedel opened his first chocolate factory. It was first such enterprise in Poland. At the end of the 1930s Jan Wedel planned to renew the store and adapt it to contemporary European standards. However it triggered protests of Warsaw inhabitants together with journalists and writers who demanded to keep the characteristic nineteenth century atmosphere of this place. This vibe is still present and it might be the reason why this Chocolate Lounge is so willingly visited.
