Church of St. John of God

Local name: Kościół św. Jana Bożego

The Baroque Rector's Church belongs to the Order of the Hospitaller Fathers of the Bonifrats. The temple was consecrated by archbishop. Stefan Wyszyński. Inside, we will find a picture of Sts. Andrzej from the 17th century.

The church has existed since 1928. After 30 years since its inception, next to the temple a monastery and hospital building were added, with initially only 8 beds. The development of the hospital was supported by Prince August Czartoryski. During the January Uprising the custody of the Order was made, and the hospital was handed over to the secular authorities.

In August 1944, about 300 people died under the rubble of the church and the monastery. After World War II, the Bonifratri returned to the former temple grounds. It was rebuilt in 1948-1952. However, the authorities did not agree to rebuild the former hospital. A housing estate was erected on the site of the Order.
